Choosing Outfits for your Portrait Session

I love helping my clients plan their family portrait session during our pre-session phone consultations. It gives both Mom and I a chance to help each other prepare for our session. And while parents will use this opportunity to tell me all about their children, a portion of our call is dedicated to discussing and planning the family's outfits for our session.

Your portrait session should be customized to showcase your family and I strive to deliver the images you hope to achieve. When working with this lovely family, Mom wanted her family photographed with their traditional Indian Saris, as well as photographed in casual outfits and I was thrilled we were able to accomplish both with beautiful results.

Additionally, the family had a new puppy they wanted to include for their session, so we worked our schedule to make sure everything happened.

We planned to start the session at their home in their backyard. I was thrilled to find their tree lined yard with gorgeous sunlight setting behind the trees. By starting at their home, we were able to include their puppy in the first half of the session, and enabled an easy change of clothes before hopping in our cars to change locations and drive to a local park. For the second half of the session, we photographed the family in jeans and sweaters and we achieved two different looks all in one portrait session. I'm happy to do this for my clients at no additional cost or expense.

I absolutely loved the results, especially the portraits in their traditional Indian Saris. The gorgeous colors of their clothing just pop so beautifully against the backdrop of the trees. And their smiles just complete the beautiful look for a beautiful Traditional Family Portrait.
